Version 2.95

Version 2.95 is a major release, and covers updates to the Gateway Solver API (GatewaySolverAPI.dll) client, the Gateway Solver Desktop application, the Gateway Solver Uploader Service (GSUS) and our web services. All installations of Gateway Solver must be updated to 2.95 as older versions will be out of date by 1st November 2024. The majority of the changes in this release are to our hosted architecture to guarantee availability for the long term. We have had to release updates to our client software to abide by a very short notice (30 days!) requirement from Microsoft, so apologies for the short notice. 

Gateway Solver Desktop Application (Version 2.95)

• New API endpoint: https://gatewaysolver.evolvedsoftware.com (this should be covered by your existing firewall configuration however it is wise to check this before 1st November 2024). If Gateway Solver works following updating to 2.95, it's fine.
• Various improvements and bug fixes ;)
• You need to install this yourself (click 'yes' at the update prompt to download and run the installer, contact your IT admin to run our installer if you need to).

Gateway Solver Uploader Service (GSUS) (Version 0.9.8000.5)

• Harmonised RTI Return submission logic to use the shared GatewaySolverAPI.dll - reducing code complexity.
• Exceptions in the Event Log are now correctly recorded as 'Error' level instead of 'Information'.
• We will contact you directly to arrange updating your GSUS install.

• Improvements to diagnostic logging when using Gateway Solver products:
  • New text log files are now stored in:
    • %AppData%Local\GatewaySolverAPI
    • For this release, we will continue to save our usual log file output (default: Documents\Gateway Solver) but this will change in a future update.
  • Event Viewer support (for users with privileges (please start Gateway Solver as Administrator once to create the 'Gateway Solver' Event Source).
• Improved networking layer to provide detailed reasons for each type of potential network availability failure, and retries to connect three times (e.g. first attempt at 2 seconds, a second at 4 seconds, a third at 8 seconds) before timing out.
• Removed GatewaySolverAPI.dll.config (or our configuration from your app.config or web.config). Any configuration elements remaining will be safely ignored and you can remove them.
• Added dependency: Newtonsoft.Json.dll which must be in the same folder as GatewaySolverAPI.dll [MIT license, free for commercial use]

  • It's significantly faster and more reliable than the .NET Framework's Microsoft System.Text.Json.

VAT Solver Pro and Notices and Reminders Service (NARS) are not affected by this update
